Jamie Snook is the Executive Director of MEOPAR, where he works to connect researchers, communities, governments, and industry to advance ocean science across Canada. With more than 20 years of experience in Indigenous governance, environmental research, and public policy, he is passionate about building partnerships that support healthy oceans and resilient communities. Before joining MEOPAR, Jamie spent over 15 years working as Executive Director of the Torngat Wildlife, Plants and Fisheries Secretariat, where he supported Inuit-led wildlife and fisheries co-management initiatives in Labrador. He brings a collaborative, community-focused approach to leadership and holds a PhD in Public Health from the University of Guelph where his research examined how fish and wildlife co-management influences Inuit health and well-being.
